Max Moore sets Provincial Record

In addition to the four U of R Cougar swimmers (My Demchuk, Linda Duarte, Maggi
Pettit and Andrew Malawski) that competed in Victoria this past weekend, so did
seven other Saskatchewan swimmers who are currently away at university.
Competing for the University of Calgary was: Sam Acton, Colin Miazga and Max
Moore. Three others competing for University of Lethbridge included: Brandon
Blondeau, Craig Davidson and Matthew Mastromatteo and Jeff Saganski for the
Victoria Vikes.
Max Moore won first place honors in 1500 Free with a personal best and setting a
new Provincial Record with a time of 15:41.91. This was a 14 year old record.
Max also finished 7th in 400 Free.
Colin Miazga won first place honors in 200 and 400 Free, second place in 100
Free and finished 8th in 50 Free. Colin’s time in 200 Free was a personal best
of 1:47.66.
Calgary Dino teammate Sam Acton finished 8th in 100 Breast.
Brandon Blondeau achieved personal bests in 50 and 200 Free. Craig Davidson also
had a PB in 200 Free, while Matthew Mastromattteo swam to bests in: 50, 100 and
200 Free and 100 Back
Jeff Saganski finished 5th in 100 Fly and 9th in 200 Fly with a best time of
2:04.88
Sam Acton, Linda Duarte of the U of R Cougar’s, Andrew Malawski of U of R, Colin
Miazga, Max Moore and Jeff Saganski have all qualified for the 2009 Canadian
Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Swimming Championships which will be held February
19 to 21 at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
