Bronze Medal for Duarte at Canada West Swimming Championships
U of R Cougar swimmer, Linda Duarte won her first Canada West medal on the weekend earning a bronze in the Women’s 100 Fly. Linda also finished 6th in 200 Fly. Linda has qualified for Canadian Interuniversity Sports (CIS) Championships, which will be held February 18 to 21 at the University of Toronto.
Other Cougar swimmers that also competed at Can West were: Robert Ennis, Hector Fukushi and Maggi Pettit. Robert narrowly missed making his CIS standard by 4 tenths of a second in 200 Fly, with Maggi narrowly missing in both 50 Free and 50 Back.
Other Saskatchewan swimmers at the meet were Brittney Harley (GOLD) swimming for University of British Columbia Thunderbirds (UBCT), Anton Moshynskyy (GOLD) also swimming for UBCT and Jeffrey Saganski (GOLD) swimming for University of Victoria. This was Brittney and Anton’s first Canada West meet.
Brittney’s top finish was 6th in 200 Free, while Anton’s was 7th in 50 Fly. Brittney has qualified for CIS Championships at the University of Toronto. Also qualified is Jeff Saganski.
